The short version
- We measure your face from your photos only to produce your report.
- We only do it after you give consent, before you upload.
- Your photos are kept with your report and your measurements are kept as numbers, until you delete them (one click, at any time) or until 24 months after you last used Face Rating Lab.
- We never sell face data, never use it to identify you and never use it to train AI.
- We don't offer Face Rating Lab in Illinois.
1. Why this notice exists
Several laws give extra protection to data about the shape of your face. These include the UK and EU GDPR, and US state laws such as the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, Washington's biometric identifiers law (RCW 19.375) and My Health My Data Act, the Colorado Privacy Act (including its biometric rules in force since 1 July 2025) and the California Consumer Privacy Act.
We treat all face data as biometric data, whether or not a particular law would. This notice is our written policy for it, including our public retention schedule and deletion rules. It works together with our privacy policy.
2. What face data we collect
- Your photos: one front photo and one side-profile photo.
- Face points: 478 points found on your front photo, plus the points along your profile in the side photo.
- Numbers calculated from them: 65+ measurements, visual ratings, pillar scores and your overall score.
We do not run face recognition. We don't create a template to recognize you, and we never compare your face with anyone else's to find out who you are.
3. What we use it for
We use face data only to:
- produce your free preview and full report;
- show your report to you again when you come back;
- compare your own scans with each other, if you have more than one.
We never use it for anything else: not for advertising, not to identify you, and never to train AI models.
4. Your consent
Before you upload, we ask you to tick a box giving explicit consent to us collecting and processing your face data as this notice describes, and a second box to confirm that the photos are of you. We don't capture any face data until you have done this. If you live in Texas, Colorado or another place that requires consent before biometric data is captured, that box is your consent.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your scans in your account or on a report page, or by emailing us. We then delete your face data as described below.
5. Illinois
We do not offer Face Rating Lab to residents of Illinois or to anyone located in Illinois. Please don't use the service if this applies to you. If we learn that we have collected face data from someone in Illinois, we delete it.
6. Retention and deletion schedule

Deleting in your account takes effect immediately. If you email us, we delete your data within 30 days at the latest, and usually the same day.
8. How we protect it
We store and send face data using a reasonable standard of care for our industry, and at least as carefully as we protect our other confidential information. Data is encrypted in transit, photos are kept in private storage, access is restricted, and you can delete your photos and face data at any time with one click.
9. Your rights
You can see your face data in your report at any time, delete it with one click and ask us for a copy or for anything in this notice to be explained. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, described in our privacy policy.
If you live in Washington or Nevada, this notice is also our consumer health data privacy policy: we collect and share face data only as described here and only with your consent, and you can access or delete it at any time.
10. Changes and contact
If we change how we handle face data, we'll update this notice and the date at the top before the change applies, and ask for new consent where the law requires it.
