Strengths and focus areas

What stands out, and what you can work with

The strongest proportions, and the ones furthest from the ideal range. Focus areas are not flaws. Some come from bone structure and simply make a face its own. Others shift with grooming, hair, posture or the photo itself.

Strengths

Measurements inside or closest to their ideal range.

  1. Eye aspect ratio

    Front · Eyes
    Ideal
    Value3.27xIdeal3-3.5x

The width of the visible eye opening divided by its height, averaged across both eyes.

  2. Eyebrow tilt

    Front · Eyes
    Ideal
    Value+6.5°Ideal6.5-11°

The slope from the inner brow to its arch region, averaged across both brows.

  3. One eye apart test

    Front · Eyes
    Ideal
    Value0.95xIdeal0.95-1x

The gap between the inner eye corners compared with the average eye-region width.

  4. Ipsilateral alar angle

    Front · Nose
    Ideal
    Value90.5°Ideal86.5-92.5°

An angle relating the two outer eyelid-hood endpoints to the nose-bottom landmark.

  5. Nose tip position

    Front · Nose
    Ideal
    Value+1.4 mmIdeal0-3 mm

The vertical offset of the nose-bottom landmark from the nasal-base landmark in the front photo.

  6. Chin-to-philtrum ratio

    Front · Mouth
    Ideal
    Value2.19xIdeal2.15-2.45x

The span below the lower lip compared with the span between the nose base and upper lip.

Focus areas

Where a proportion sits furthest from the ideal range, with practical things to try where something can change.

  1. Submental cervical angle

    Side · Neck
    Focus area
    Value122.4°Ideal94-106°

The angle where the under-chin contour meets the front of the neck.

  2. Neck width

    Front · Neck
    Fair
    Value111.1%Ideal92-98%

Neck width relative to jaw-angle width.

  3. Z angle

    Side · Facial Profile

    Value89.6°Ideal78-82°

The angle between a chin-to-upper-lip line and the Frankfort reference direction.

  4. Face width to height ratio

    Front · Face Shape
    Fair
    Value1.79xIdeal1.96-2x

Cheekbone width divided by the height from brow level to the upper lip.

  5. Nasomental angle

    Side · Nose
    Fair
    Value138.2°Ideal126-131°

The angle at the nose tip between the nasal-root line and the chin line.

The upward or downward slope from the inner eye corner to the outer eye corner.

Visual ratings

Rated from the photos on the same 0 to 10 scale. Higher is better: a 10 means nothing in that area holds the overall look back.

Method

How we measured

We placed 478 points on the front photo and traced the outline of the profile, then our proprietary AI analysis studied both photos in fine detail. Each of the 66 measurements is a ratio, distance or angle between those points, compared with an ideal range from facial-proportion research.

This sample uses the Male ranges. When you upload, you choose Male or Female and we score you against the matching ranges.

Inside the ideal range scores 10, and the score drops the further outside it a value sits. Distances in mm are estimated from the photo’s scale. The 46 visual ratings are judged from the photos on the same 0 to 10 scale.

Scores describe proportions in these two photos. They are not a measure of anyone’s worth, and this is not medical advice.
